Uitzicht is a private nature reserve situated in the picturesquely Eastern Free State.

The reserve consists of 3 farms enclosed by game fencing with 15 species of game roaming the farm. The views are breath taking with mountains all around. The Maluti Mountains in Lesotho are visible and often covered in a blanket of snow during Winter. Often we have snow on the farm as well.

 

Accommodation for all needs, as well as conferences, birthdays, functions and forest weddings are often held here. In the Eland hall there is a bar with catering facilities for 130 people. Pre-arranged breakfasts and other meals are catered for here. The Conference hall can accommodate up to 80 people and is also used when a forest wedding may be interrupted by weather.

 

There are accommodation facilities for 80 people consisting of selfcatering units and luxury private rooms with private entrances. Each selfcatering unit also has an inside braai/fireplace and private entrance.

 

The name Fraaiuitzicht is precisely as it says. If you enjoy a tranquil peaceful holiday, long weekend or quick breakaway to invigorate your soul, then THIS is where you MUST be.

 

The units are all in close proximity to the Eland hall and swimming pool as well as braai facilities.

 

There is an overhang in the berg which provides a unique surrounding where conferences can be held with facilities for up to 50 people. Bushman paintings can be seen and it is the ideal spot for picnics prior arrangement. The Lodge is sustained by pure natural berg water and it can be used directly from the taps. The swimming pool is heated naturally by the sunrays and is popular during the summer months, with a play area for children.

 

Hiking, mountain biking or game drives (with own vehicle) must be made prior the activity. There are also picnic and/or sun downer possibilities in the berg with breath taking views, also to be arranged prior. Should your vehicle not be fitted to drive the route, prior arrangement can be made for a tour by the owner themselves.

 

During the months of November through January there are “Suikerbos” flowers, from where the farm name Suikerboschrand is derived. It is a bird paradise and game often wanders near the Lodge.

 

Uitzicht is very popular as a base for guests exploring the surrounding areas such as Oxbow ski-resort or Katse dam, which is the second largest dam in Africa. Clarens, Golden Gate, Fouriesburg, Ficksburg (cherry festival) and Bethlehem are also nearby. Bethlehem has a very good infrastructure with malls and various shops to cater for all needs.

 

Fouriesburg and Clarens were crowned 2013 and 2016 town of the year. There are also various golf and bowls clubs in the area.

 

During May until August hunting is offered to keep the game numbers under control. Should guests wish to hike, mountain bike or game drive during this season, they MUST arrange with the owner as hunting may take place.

Uitzicht is situated 12km from Fouriesburg, 50km from Clarens, 60km from Bethlehem, 60km from Ficksburg, 250km from Bloemfontein, 300km from Johannesburg and 450km from Durban.
